The aim of this seminar is to provide a pragmatic approach to managing compact projects. After this seminar you will be able to steer and manage smaller projects or sub-projects within a larger complex project completely on your own. You will be able to design the structure of your project, formulate a target definition, set up the work breakdown structure, plan the schedule, costs and resources as well as carry out a risk analysis. In addition, you will be able to efficiently monitor and control your project and close it successfully.

Initiating the Project:
Project phases - Project goals and stakeholder analysis - Project charter - Project organisation - Communication and information flow in the project

Planning the Project:

WBS (work breakdown structure) - Critical path planning - Schedule, costs and resource planning - Risk analysis

Executing the Project:

Supplier management - Negotiations with suppliers - Dealing with changes and disturbances - Monitoring and controlling projects - Project reporting process

Closing the Project:

Approval and handover - Project closure



Lecture, discussion, group work, role plays, practical examples.



The course of this seminar describes the practically oriented process of a project and enables you to apply the methods and procedures taught in the seminar directly in a practical context. You work on your own in small groups and initiate and plan a project on the basis of a given, comprehensive case study.
